The Regional Technical Training Workshop for the Environmentally Sound Management of Asbestos Waste, Jakarta, Indonesia, 19 - 21 October 2010

The Workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Environment of Republic of Indonesia, and organized by the Secretariat of the Basel Convention and BCRC-SEA, funded by the Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan (MOEJ).
The objectives of the workshop are to 1) to raise awareness on ESM of asbestos waste 2)  to provide technical and practical knowledge on ESM of asbestos waste, especially collection, transportation, disposal, health & safety aspects and 3) to exchange experience and information on current status or situation of asbestos waste management in the region.
This workshop is attended by representatives of 5 (five) countries in South and Southeast Asia : Indonesia, Maldives, Malaysia, Thailand and Srilanka and the resource persons are representatives from various institutions, which are international organizations, university, related ministries and local goverments with the total of approximately 35 participants.
